Mecallians, the french mechanical industries
An alliance for the ages
In March 2023, the French Federation of Mechanical Industries, FIM (Fédération des Industries Mécaniques), the Technical Centre for Mechanical Industry, Cetim (Centre Technique des Industries Mécaniques), and the French sectorial standardization office for mechanical engineering, UNM (Union de Normalisation de la Mécanique) joined forces to create Mecallians, a common banner designed to increase the scope of their actions, by representing our manufacturers at all levels and giving them the opportunity to innovate better and more, by developing new standards to better protect them, and appealing to a general audience for whom mechanics remains a mystery, and by enlightening them on the industrial solutions that are essential to the ecological bifurcation of our societies.
Each in his own field, with his own expertise, experience and network, will strengthen the voice of the industrial mechanical community with a common goal: make French industry a success and promote it for what it is: a formidable tool for competitiveness and sovereignty, a solution to the challenges of today and tomorrow.
A one of a kind partnership in France
Bringing together a federation, its technical centre and its standardisation office under a single banner is unprecedented in France.
«In the development of our societies, in the march of human progress, mechanics has always played a decisive role. Just like the engine, which transformed transportation forever, mechanics are the engine that sets the world in motion. At the heart of every industrial revolution, from the steam engine, through robotics, to digital technology and interconnectivity, it has enabled the development of industry and shaped our way of life. This common banner must enable us to create new conditions, solutions and standards for a better future »
Henri Morel, Chairman of FIM
«By creating Mecallians, we are providing the impetus needed to create a virtuous dynamic that will accelerate the transformation of SMEs and innovation, guarantee the quality and strengthen the influence of an industry that is proud to be part of the solution »
Carole Gratzmuller, Chairwoman of Cetim
«This common banner can increase the scope of our actions, by representing our manufacturers at all levels and giving them the opportunity to innovate better and more, developing new standards to better support them in their development, and by appealling to a general audience for whom mechanics remains a mystery, and by enlightening them on the industrial solutions that are essential to the ecological bifurcation of our societies»
Denis Schnoebelen, Chairman of l’UNM
